5 Points Theatre Media Update 4/20/11
1. The Princess Bride will be shown at the theater on April 29th at 11 pm and May 1st at 3 pm. This is a rare chance to see this classic fairy tale on the big screen. Tickets are sale at: http://www.5pointstheatre.com/movie/the-princess-bride/
2. The 5 Points Theatre will open a new French comedy called Potiche (or Trophy Wife) on May 6th. Set in 1977, it stars Catherine Deneuve as a housewife who is forced to take control of her husband's company after he has a heart attack. Gerard Depardieu also stars as a union leader. It plays as sort of a French 9 to 5, with sets and costumes from The Brady Bunch, with an all-star cast. The trailer can be found here:
3. On Friday, May 13th at 9 pm, we are very excited to host the premiere of The Deadbeats, a new horror/comedy short film which was largely in the 5 Points Theatre and co-directed by our projectionist Jermey Tidwell. The event will also include a band and party after the screening. More details can be found here:
4. The new adaptation of Jane Eyre will play exclusively at the 5 Points Theatre starting May 20th. We're trying to arrange a press screening of some kind. The trailer is worth checking out - it's cut like a horror film:
5. The Rocky Horror Picture Show returns May 20th and 21st and midnight! Tickets are available here: http://www.5pointstheatre.com/movie/the-rocky-horror-picture-show/. The last few shows have seen a real resurgence of the crowd atmosphere which was missing from Jacksonville for many years.
