Civil Rights Monument Unveiling, Public Reception
The St. Augustine Foot Soldiers Remembrance Project invites everyone to the unveiling of the Foot Soldiers Monument, which is dedicated to the many activists involved in the St. Augustine Civil Rights Movement. The ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011, in St. Augustine's Plaza de la Constitución. Speakers will share the history of the 1960's events, and bands will provide entertainment. Following the ceremony, there will be a public reception at A1A Ale House at 1 King St., St. Augustine. Both events are free, open to the public, and wheelchair accessible. Questions: please contact Dr. Casey Welch (cwelch@flagler.edu, 904-826-8544).
